JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Welcome back to my blog! It is becoming more and more difficult to think of differences between the USA and Italy to talk about at this point, but I think another interesting one is the job-related opportunities offered by the two countries.

The United States is the “Land of Opportunity.” Many people’s goal is to have their own business and be their own boss by taking advantage of their knowledge, resources, and capabilities, and in this country, that is actually possible! This is one of the biggest countries in the world, where, through connections, a college degree, and the results of belief and hard work, individuals have access to many job opportunities. They also have the chance to move to different states in search of better options, and even the minimum salaries here would be considered a dream for most people in Italy.

Italy is a much smaller country that, unfortunately, especially for younger generations, does not offer as many opportunities as the U.S. And even if it does, the process of opening a business is so complicated due to laws, regulations, and the capital required, that it becomes discouraging, and most people don’t try or even think of it. When it comes to finding a good job, it is possible, but wages have been decreasing over the years. So, while finding a job is already difficult, finding one that pays well is even harder.

This is why, in recent years, around one million people have left the country in search of better opportunities, and it is heartbreaking to see this happen to such a beautiful country. Italy is an amazing place to live, and eventually, I would love to live and have a family there because it has been my home for most of my life. I love the simple and quiet lifestyle, the habits, and the routine. Don’t get me wrong, I love the United States and its culture. This is a fascinating country, and I would love to live here for many years, but unfortunately, the process for an international student to stay is challenging.

This is the end of our discussion. Two amazing countries that are significantly different from each other. But thanks to the interconnection of the world, we are blessed with the opportunity to learn about and experience the diversity that makes them unique.

Thank you for your attention! See you next week!

  1. I totally see where you're coming from. The U.S. definitely offers a lot in terms of workforce potential, but as you mentioned, it’s not always easy, and it requires a strong mindset and preparation. In Italy, even with some setbacks, I believe the key is knowing your priorities and being open to change. The journey to finding the right opportunity is unique, and sometimes betting on something bigger can be the right move.
